LACEY

Lacey was born in 1993. She spent 9 years in a cage. She lived a life of misery and deprivation. These photos were taken just after she was rescued by HUA. She was horribly depressed - staring blindly at the wall and barking. She's like an ancient person who just stares and doesn't know what is going on. The years of boredom drove her insane. When she was being groomed, she gave the groomer one little lick on the cheek, just barely, at the end of the grooming.

The groomer was heartbroken for her. She was covered with mats, had a raging skin infection and a respiratory infection. She also had dry eye and lost 9 teeth when they were cleaned.

Lacey was adopted by a family in Omaha who loves the ones who are in the most need. She got three weeks of love and comfort before she unexpectedly died of heart failure.

If you ever thought of buying a puppy in a pet store, stop for one moment and think about their parents - dogs like Lacey imprisoned in small cages enduring lives of deprivation and misery. Do not ever buy a puppy in a pet store.
