YVETTE It's hard to imagine that Yvette would sneak up on people and give them little kisses right on the lips. Yvette was imprisoned in a puppymill for 11 years. She is very shy but she loves people. She follows them little pad around and pats them with her precious little paw..Yvette is a poodle who was born in 1991. She weighs 11 pounds. She has been spayed and is current on health care.

Lacey was born in 1993. She spent 9 years in a cage. She lived a life of misery and deprivation. These photos were taken just after she was rescued by HUA. She was horribly depressed - staring blindly at the wall and barking. She's like an ancient person who just stares and doesn't know what is going on. The years of boredom drove her insane. When she was being groomed, she gave the groomer one little lick on the cheek, just barely, at the end of the grooming.
The groomer was heartbroken for her. She was covered with mats, had a raging skin infection and a respiratory infection. She also had dry eye and lost 9 teeth when they were cleaned.
Lacey was adopted by a family in Omaha who loves the ones who are in the most need. She got three weeks of love and comfort before she unexpectedly died of heart failure.
If you ever thought of buying a puppy in a pet store, stop for one moment and think about their parents - dogs like Lacey imprisoned in small cages enduring lives of deprivation and misery. Do not ever buy a puppy in a pet store.

Stars spent her life in a cage. She had never touched the ground. She gave birth to litter after litter of puppies. No one ever touched her with love. The man who "owned" her only had one arm so went he grabbed her out of her cage, he grabbed her by her leg and hauled her around by her leg. She was very afraid of people but so hopeful that she would be loved. She was incredibly happy when she realized that people were petting her and loving her and that she was safe. She ran and ran around the yard. Stars is a precious, sweet, happy Cocker Spaniel. She is grateful for every kindness that is shown to her. And she's beautiful. She should be a princess.

ROSINA Rosina was born in January 1992 and spent 8 years giving birth to litter after litter of puppies. The miller tried to wring one more litter out of the little girl. She developed pyometra (a severe and deadly uterine infection). She would have died if she had not gotten excellent medical care. She weighs 6.6 pounds. She is full of spirit and happiness.

The breeder thought that there was something wrong with the puppy so she brought him to the vet where she was told that he was blind and may have some other neurological problems. Her response was to sentence him to death and walk out. The vet students at the University of Florida refused to give up on Tucker though. They saw the sweet happy boy that he was rather than the money that he might sell for and they refused to kill him. Then a miracle happened and the catarcts that had essentially made him blind began to recede. His vision was not totally restored but it was to a great extent. The students contacted shelters all over the country and four Corgi rescues. No one would help Tucker. We just don't understand that. This is a very special boy.
Tucker has a zest for life that is evident the minute you met him. He's a happy puppy who enjoys all things puppy. Tucker was born in late 2002. He can see but his peripherial vision is limited so he needs a home without children. He also has some problems walking on a leash and needs a home with a yard. Tucker may have some challenges but his gifts far outweigh them. He deserves a home as wonderful as he is. He has been neutered and is current on health care.

Pickachu is a Pug/Pekingese. He was rescued from a puppymill in Iowa. We can only guess at the horror that caused him to lose an eye. We frequently see dogs from puppymills who have lost eyes. Given the scarce medical care that is often available to dogs in mills, the thought of what Pickachu suffers makes us ill. He's a very good, loving, socialized fellow. He adores attention and immediately rolls over for a belly rub. He was born in 1996 and weighs about 20 pounds. He has been neutered and is current on health care.
