POINT OF ORDER  (CONT.)

In recent years government scandals have been so plentiful we hardly notice. The rise of cable television (an unknown entity in the 70's) and entire news channels to carry hearings into the government investigations is now commonplace. Today, names of government officials and committee counsels come and go with nary an arched eyebrow.

Not so was the case in 1973-74. Because of principled men like Archibald Cox and Samuel Dash we have a better government. Fate introduced these two men in 1973 and now fate takes them both from us on May 30, 2004. We, as a nation, are better off for having known them. However, I can't help but think fate should at replace these men because we seem to be enormously bereft of these principled people in government these days.
