need to fill the backlog of judges now awaiting confirmation. Funny, that was of no concern when Clinton was in office. Besides, there is a far smaller percentage of vacancies now than under Bill Clinton.
The Republicans are threatening to change the filibuster rule to a mere majority to stop debate, thus ensuring 100% of their nominees be confirmed. Should that happen we would be a nation worse off, not necessarily because of the nominees in question, but because a majority running amuck will be able to dictate to a nation their unpopular policies.
The filibuster rule was put in place by the wisdom of those forming congress in our early days. True, times have changed. The founding fathers could not have envisioned today's society. Nevertheless, while times have indeed changed, the underlying principal of fairness and protection of the rights of as many as 49% of the Americans has not.
