The mid month Rasmussen Poll shows challenger Nick Lampson leading Tom DeLay in Delay's November matchup, 30-22 with former congressman Stockman gathering 11 percent….mid January's Zogby Poll showed 52% of Americans would impeach Bush for illegally using wiretaps...the Dept of Justice is quietly investigating obstruction of justice charges against Karl Rove and President Bush relating to the firing of a Solicitor General's attorney who was looking into connections and dealings with Jack Abramoff in 2002…...some congressmen are indicating staff members of Sen. Bill Frist and Rep. Tom DeLay were daytraders, cashing in on inside information from their offices….New polling of the fifty states shows West Virginia's governor the most popular in his state, due in part to his handling of recent mining disasters….The latest SUSA polling among the fifty states regarding their own US Senators shows Nebraska's Ben Nelson with a 67% approval vs 24% disapproval and Chuck Hagel with a 59% vs 33%…….Former KY congressman Ken Lucas, 72, has filed to regain his old seat against Republican Geoff Davis. Lucas left office to keep his promise on a three term limit pledge but after two years said he was upset at the divisiveness in congress and accused Davis of being a rubber stamp for the administration and not distancing himself from the multitude of corruption scandals swirling around the GOP. Many beltway observers upon hearing of the Lucas challenge moved the race from a GOP solid win to a near toss-up…. Sending a release with a dateline of "Caracas, Venezuela," anti-Iraq war activist Cindy Sheehan vowed to challenge CA Sen. Dianne Feinstein in '06 if she didn't participate in the Alito filibuster….Whoever becomes the new congressman from Nebraska's 3rd district will not set any longevity records. Nebraska is projected to lose one congressional seat which

would likely mean the vast 3rd would be enveloped into an even larger district with Omaha and surrounding area comprising one district leaving the rest of the state, including Lincoln in the remaining district…...Heartland PAC, chaired by IA Gov. Tom Vilsack, raised more than $1.6M in '06, spending a third of what was raised on contributions, travel, donor prospecting and staff, according to disbursements filed with the IRS…..Sen. Maj. Leader Bill Frist's Volunteer PAC raised $3.5 million in 2005, soaking in more than 50K separate contributions. The PAC also spent a significant amount of money, ending the year with about $800K. ...A new Zogby Interactive Poll: "In September 2005, 51% said they felt safer with Bush as President, down from numbers above 60% in earlier polls. Now, just 43% said they feel safer with Bush as President, while 53% said they feel less safe."Key finding from the new ABC News/Washington Post poll: "Americans -- by a 16-point margin, 51 to 35 percent -- now say the country should go in the direction of the Democrats….
