For the past six years the wealthy have manipulated our government for their benefit, not the little guy. They have restructured bankruptcy, plundered our treasury with tax cuts for themselves and government contracts for their friends, lowered the average lifestyle by exporting good jobs overseas leaving fast food jobs in their wake, made off with billions in Iraq fraud, rewritten or ignored science in order to chase the almighty dollar and used their corporate media talking heads to relentlessly pound their agenda into our collective psyche. They've even added new phrases to our lexicon like "death tax" and made it seem like it would sap the last dollar out of your estate when in fact it affects only about 600 people in the nation every year.
Governing is not the game any more, rather it is winning. Winning at all costs.
The Republican Party has now controlled both houses of congress and the White House for six years. Polls tell us the "average Joe" is restless, perhaps fed up with continued lack of leadership and inaction when it comes to health care, decent jobs, affordable housing, skyrocketing federal debt, and a plethora of other images in the their minds.
Stalin once said, "It's not how many votes you get, it's who counts the votes." Having the inside track on that election detail, the Republican House has now voted additional insurance to stay in power by eliminating opposition voters from ever being able to vote with this insidious 21st century poll tax.
