POINT OF ORDER  (CONT.)

that Democratic wave across the country resulting in even bigger gains. In the Senate I think the Democrats will fall short of a majority but gain enough to have a 50-50 split in the new Senate.

Here in Nebraska we will elect Dave Heineman governor over an underfunded novice campaigner/sacrificial lamb. It's not that our governor has done anything to deserve election to the post he's held since Mike Johanns resigned to be the Secretary of Agriculture, it's just that people don't know what a real weasel Heineman is and his opponent has no clue as to what he's doing.

Mercifully, the Senate campaign in Nebraska will be over and with it the non-stop commercials we have been subjected to since May. On the morning of November 8 Pete Ricketts will wake up and scratch his bald head and wonder why he spent $12 million of his own dollars with nothing to show for it.

Look  for some interesting congressional races in Nebraska. In the first district freshman congressman Jeff Fortenberry, lackluster in all sense except for his perfectly manicured hair, faces a challenge from former Lt. Gov. Maxine Moul. Look for the clueless Fortenberry to win but Maxine's ability to raise money will make for a decent showing.

In the second district, way under the radar, is the campaign of Jim Esch running against Lee Terry who is gunning for his 5th term in office after originally pledging to serve only three terms. Again, Terry is not to be confused with Albert Einstein or even Barney Fife for that matter, but he will win against Esch who has refused PAC money but has developed a great grassroots game and his totals will surprise many.

My upset special is in the 3rd district where Scott Kleeb is running a superb campaign against state senator Adrian Smith. It helps that Smith has run a horrible campaign and relied on the Club for Growth for most of his funds, but Kleeb is smart and I believe the eventual winner in Nebraska's third district. Besides, when the Omaha World Herald enthusiastically endorses a Democrat in Nebraska's third district then it must be freezing in Hell and anything is liable to happen.
