deteriorate. That half trillion dollars could have provided dividends by investing that sum in mass transit for our congested cities resulting in less dependence on foreign oil. Think what just part of that half trillion could result in had it been invested in technology for alternative fuels.
The elevation of the Democrats to majority status assured we will get out of Iraq sooner than Bush and his cabal would have done. One way or the other we have set in motion a phase out of our military presence in Iraq and saves considerable money to invest here at home on projects for the betterment of our society.
With the title of majority so comes responsibility. Democrats would be wise to reject the notion of pursuing an ideological agenda lest they suffer the same consequence as the Republicans. To be sure the Democrats will take the country down a different path but straying too far left of center would be as disastrous as the Republicans found by adhering to an ultra right wing agenda.
Both parties need to roll up their sleeves and cast aside the temptation for sound bites to score political points and get down to some serious work on the multitude of problems facing this nation.
Americans deserve no less.
